Embers of Fate Reviews Are In – What Readers Are Saying About My Debut Novel
I can’t believe Embers of Fate is finally out in the world. After so many months (years, really) of pouring my heart into this story, release day has come and gone, and I’m still processing it all.
Seeing your reviews roll in has been surreal in the best way. I knew writing this book would be an emotional journey for me, but hearing how much you all love Gwen, Tyreal, and the world of Valine makes it all worth it.
A few things readers are loving so far:
Gwen’s strength and heart – I’ve seen so many of you connect with her journey, and it means the world. One review called her “a wonderful and strong character. Her compassion and her fire quickly made her a favorite.” Another reader wrote, “Gwen Thorncrest, the main character, is relatable in her fears and insecurities as she grapples with the weight of her responsibilities amidst her grief.”
The tension between Gwen and Tyreal – Writing these two was so much fun, and I’m thrilled that their dynamic is hitting the right notes. One review put it perfectly: “The tension between the two of them was piping and exactly what I wanted to see between two friends pining for each other.” Another said, “Tyreal harbors a forbidden love for the future queen—a secret that adds a simmering tension to the story.”
The world-building and side characters – I won’t lie, I have a soft spot for the side characters in this book, and I love that so many of you do too. I’ve seen a lot of love for Gwen’s brother, and I completely agree with this review: “Gwen’s brother was absolutely adorable.” Another reader commented, “The world-building is immersive yet accessible, making Embers of Fate an easy and engaging read.”
This whole experience has been overwhelming in the best way, and I just want to say thank you. Whether you’ve read the book, left a review, or even just added it to your TBR, I appreciate it more than I can say. And yes, I’m already working on what comes next.
Who’s your favorite character so far? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let me know in the comments or message me—I’m here for all of it.
