Meet Gwen, Heir to the Throne of Tavia
Hello, friends!
Welcome back to our little corner of the internet, where we explore enchanting worlds of romance, fantasy, and magic. This week, we're diving deep into the heart and soul of Gwen, the fierce and headstrong heroine of Embers of Fate. Get ready to meet the woman who will soon become your new favorite queen, because she certainly is mine!
Gwen: The Heart of Tavia
At twenty-three years old, Gwen is thrust into a destiny she's been preparing for her entire life. As the heir to the throne of Tavia, Gwen has always know what was ahead of her; but her journey is still fraught with challenges, heartbreak, and a destiny she must rise to meet. Gwen is not just a princess; she is a beacon of strength and hope for her people, her family has ruled Tavia since the continent was settled.
Early Life and Family
Gwen's childhood was marked by both privilege and loss. When she was just eleven years old, her mother Asya tragically died giving birth to Gwen's younger brother, Pippin. This loss forged an unbreakable bond between Gwen and Pippin, with Gwen becoming a fiercely protective big sister. The responsibility of caring for her brother and preparing for her future role as queen matured Gwen beyond her years.
Personality and Traits
Gwen is headstrong and spirited, with a loyalty that knows no bounds. Her determination is matched only by her temper, which can sometimes get the best of her. But beneath her fiery exterior lies a heart full of love and compassion, particularly for her family and her people. Gwen's fierce loyalty and unwavering dedication to her kingdom make her a natural leader, even when she doubts her own abilities.
Gwen struggles with her anxiety more than a little. Panic attacks can sometimes overwhelm her, but she always comes out on the other side. It was important to me to make a character that people could see themselves in and to show some of her less than ideal habits that stem from her anxiety.
A Kingdom in Crisis
In Embers of Fate, the kingdom of Tavia faces a crisis. Gwen's father, King Lorne, falls severely ill and eventually passes away, leaving Gwen to ascend the throne. This moment is both a culmination of her life's preparation and the beginning of her greatest fears. Gwen must navigate the treacherous waters of political scheming, threats to her throne, and her own grief to rise as the queen her country needs.
A Magical Secret
Gwen harbors a secret that could change the fate of her nation—a magical secret she swore a blood oath never to reveal. This burden weighs heavily on her, particularly when she can’t share it with the people closest to her.
Forbidden Love
At the heart of Gwen's struggles is her forbidden love for Tyreal, her loyal captain of the guard. Tyreal has been by Gwen's side since childhood, sworn to protect her at all costs. Their love is deep and genuine, but ancient laws and Gwen's royal obligations prevent them from being together. How can she move forward with her search for a King Consort when the man she loves is already by her side?
Why You’ll Love Gwen
Gwen is a character you can't help but root for. Her journey is one of courage, love, and resilience. As you follow her story in Embers of Fate, you'll laugh with her, cry with her, and cheer for her as she faces her fears and embraces her destiny.
