Embark on a Journey of Magic & Love
Dani Loughary
introducing
Dani Loughary is an indie author making her debut on the romantasy scene in February 2025 with her novel “Embers of Fate”. It will be the first book in her Hearts of Valine series.
Ever since being pulled into the principal’s office in elementary school for writing stories instead of doing math, she has been obsessed with writing about love and magic.
Embers of Fate started as a story idea that wouldn’t go away in 2012. As a present to herself for turning 40, Dani vowed to see it through to completion and publish. Thus, the Hearts of Valine series was born.
She lives in Missouri with her husband, two teenagers, and far too many animals. When not writing or wrangling teens, you can find her using way too much social media, lost in a book, or using her overpowered gaming computer to play The Sims.
What if your fate lies hidden within the secrets of the past?
Gwen Thorncrest, heir to the throne of Tavia, has always known her fate. But as her father’s health fades, she’s thrust into a role she fears she may not be ready for. Amidst her grief, Gwen must navigate danger, betrayal, and political scheming as she claims the throne that is rightfully hers. To fulfill her destiny, she must journey across Tavia to the Misty Mountains, where she must conquer her doubts and safeguard an ancient secret she is blood sworn to protect.
Tyreal Blackbane, a commoner sworn to protect Gwen since childhood, harbors a secret of his own—a forbidden love for his future queen. As new threats emerge from those who view a woman’s ascension to the throne as a threat, Tyreal must confront his own destiny. His unwavering loyalty and hidden feelings put him on a collision course with his heart and duty.
Together, they must face an ever evolving and intertwining fate as she inherits a kingdom, and he inherits something he never expected. Can they protect the people of Tavia and each other—while concealing their deepest secrets?

“Forbidden romance, found family, friends to lovers, magic wielders. What’s not to love about that? A solid 5 star read for me for sure.”
